Apparently Finding Me a Husband Is a Community Project

I don't know exactly when it happened.
But somewhere along the way, my singleness became everybody else's assignment.
LOL
Not in a weird way.
In the sweetest way possible.
My friends got married, and apparently their husbands, fiancés, and boyfriends all attended a secret orientation where someone stood at the front of the room and said,
"Congratulations on your relationship! Your next assignment is helping Simone find her husband."
Because why are these men working overtime? LOL
I'll get a text that says,
"Hey... don't get excited... but I know somebody."
Or one of my girlfriends will casually mention,
"My husband has a friend..."
Then suddenly I'm getting a full background report.
"He loves Jesus."
"He has a good job."
"He serves at church."
"He's family-oriented."
"He doesn't have kids."
"He can communicate."
"He loves to travel."
At this point, all I need is his résumé and three references.
And don't let their husbands meet another eligible man.
Because before they even ask his name, they're asking the important questions.
"Does he love Jesus?"
"What's his character like?"
"Is he emotionally mature?"
"Can he communicate?"
"Is he kind?"
"Would he be good enough for Simone?"
Honestly...
I feel so loved.
Because here's the thing.
My friends aren't trying to "fix" my singleness.
They're protecting my standards.
They're not telling me to settle.
They're reminding me that they're believing with me.
That means more than they'll probably ever know.
There have definitely been moments where I've laughed and thought,
"Lord... if everybody is looking... where is this man?" 😂
But I've also realized something beautiful.
The people who love you often become hope-holders when you're tired.
When I get discouraged, they remind me that God's timing is still good.
When I start wondering if my standards are too high, they remind me not to lower them.
When another relationship doesn't work out, they remind me that disappointment isn't the end of my story.
And honestly...
I'm grateful.
Because while everyone jokes about finding me a husband, what they're really saying is,
"We see you."
"We believe you're worth waiting for."
"We can't wait to celebrate when your day comes."
What a gift.
So yes...
Apparently finding me a husband has become a community project.
Applications may or may not be reviewed by the committee. 😂
Background checks are encouraged.
Love for Jesus is non-negotiable.
Emotional intelligence is required.
And if you ask my friends, they're probably accepting referrals.
But at the end of the day...
As much as I love the jokes, the referrals, and the random "I know a guy" texts...
I'm not trusting the committee.
I'm trusting God.
Because if He can write Abraham and Sarah's story...
If He can orchestrate Ruth and Boaz...
If He can send Rebekah to a well at exactly the right moment...
Then I think He knows exactly where my future husband is too.
Until then...
I'll keep becoming.
And if another husband sends in a referral this week...
We'll simply add it to the pile. 😂
